The solution to those resolutions!

Well it seems as if a few of you have fallen off the New Years resolutions already judging from the response to yesterdays post!

So why does this happen?  Usually coz we try to do too much too soon.

It’s all about creating habits and starting at level 1 – bit like a computer game – mind you over Christmas on my nephews games I didn't have a clue as to how to get started let along getting past level 1 so maybe that’s not the best analogy! ;-)  – probably just me getting old!

Anyway if you haven’t been running for years you aren’t going to go for a 30 minute run without wheezing, spluttering and hating it and then probably not going for another year. I certainly wouldn't!

Solution if you want to run (btw if losing weight is what you want to do running is not the best thing you can do yes really!) start with a 10 minute walk every day Monday – Friday?  If you are fit enough run the first and 5th minute.  When you have done that let’s run every 3rd minute and so on. Build it up to the next level!

If you have been eating biscuits, chocolate & crisps daily and want to eat better you aren't going to ditch them all for a quinoa, kale and pumpkin seed salad every day with a chia seed vanilla pot for breakfast and stick to it are you?  Come on be honest!  ;-)

Solution - why not cut them out Monday – Friday – yep still have them at the weekends. You’re only ever 5 days max from having that chocolate cake.  You can last that can’t you – it’s not no cake ever god forbid! Then when you have done that let's look at changing something else at a different level

So start small and build on it one day at a time, one week, one month and if you get it wrong or miss a day then don’t give up on the whole year get back on it this evening or tomorrow.

If you want some help and be kept accountable why not join The 14 Day Fat Furnace – it’s a great way to lose a load of weight and keep on track, a great kick start!  Click here to find out more – you need to sign up by the end of tomorrow btw! Find out more about that here.

Creating my own new habits this year as well – may tell you about them sometime! So far so good – well better with one than the other!

Thinking about it maybe that computer game analogy was a good one – if you don’t know where to start then send me an email and tell me what you are looking to do and I’ll help you out getting started!
