This week's Wednesday's what's in it -  those lovely breakfast bars!  Yep those healthy lovely, conveninent breakfast bars! 
 
Humph!  They make me want to scream!  
 
Yet there is part of me that can't help but admire the marketing of them! It's brilliant! 
 
How do you make something so bad sound so good for you?
 
Let's look at one of the market leaders....Belvita - they are "Gently baked", "made with wholegrain cereals" and "Proven to slowly release carbohydrates for 4 hours.... They must be good right?  Wrong!
 
Read the small print and the 'proven' is if you add to the two belVita breakfast biscuits "a plain dairy product, a fruit and a tea or coffee".

So it's not the biscuits it's all the other stuff with it!  WOW!  And they can market it like this!  
 
Genius! 
 
Let's take a look at the ingredients - 2nd highest quantity is sugar, 4th is Glucose-Fructose Syrup or sugar as our body translates that! and then there is Glucose Syrup yep that's sugar as well!  Equivalent of 3 teaspoons of sugar for breakfast! :-( 
 
And can anyone tell me what the hell these are? Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, Disodium Diphosphate, Ammonium Hydrogen Carbonate? 
 
Now I am sure you aren't eating this sort of thing!  If you are wondering what to eat why not try porridge, or chia seed soaked in almond milk with a few blueberries - mix those two together, scrambled eggs are all so much better than these bars and really don't take long!
