The charity challenge of a lifetime –  cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in aid of Dementia UK.

Chichester residents, Rich Evans & Amber Wilson are to embark on a mammoth 1000 mile, twelve day cycle expedition across the length of Britain with the aim of raising over £2000 for the charity Dementia UK.

Organised by Discover Adventure, Rich & Amber’s cycle journey will depart on 9th September from Land’s End on the south-westerly tip of England, they will pedal their way through Cornwall, over Dartmoor and north along the Welsh border, skirting the Lake District into Scotland, via lochs and the Highlands to the North Coast and John O’Groats.

Rich and Amber are raising money for Dementia UK as this has affected both of their families.  Amber’s late grandmother had dementia and Rich’s mother has Alzheimer’s.

Rich said; “Dementia is a horrible disease that changes the people you love and is possibly harder for the carer. Dementia UK do a lot of great work part of which is providing Admiral Nurses.  You will have heard of Macmillan Nurses who provide great support for cancer suffers and families but probably not Admiral Nurses.”

“At the moment there are just around 120 Admiral Nurses in the whole of the UK.  We want to try and help change this in our own little way and we are paying for our own trip so all the money we raise will go to Dementia UK.”
